Fight against hunger with Akshaya Patra

According to a recent UNICEF study, 38% of children aged 6 months to 5.5 years suffer from chronic malnutrition.

In order to fight against hunger, plenty of NGOs have joined hands to work for the betterment of underprivileged children and to change these figures once and for all. The Akshaya Patra Foundation is one such NGO in India that works to support 2 aspects – Food and Education. The organisation that started to feed 1,500 school children in Bengaluru, now implements the world’s largest NGO-run school meal programme in India, called the Mid-Day Meal Scheme.

After the pandemic, Government and Government-aided schools have started to re-open in India. Currently, Akshaya Patra is implementing the Mid-Day Meal Programme in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Assam and Uttar Pradesh by feeding 152,700 daily. And these numbers are only going to increase as schools reopen in a phase-wise manner.

Mid-day meals improve the overall health of children while increasing their concentration span in class.
